Medical testing centre and reagent kit production centre
To combat the global outbreak of COVID-19 in 2019, BGI set up Sunrise Diagnostic Centre in Hong Kong in 2020. Sunrise Diagnostic Centre developed the nucleic acid test kit and set up the Huo-Yan Laboratory to prepare for the prevention and control of the COVID-19 outbreak in Hong Kong.
We are currently the largest coronavirus testing laboratory in Hong Kong, with over 6 million samples completed by the end of September 2021. The laboratory not only provides testing services at the Hong Kong International Airport, but also covers community testing, with over 1.7 million community tests completed in 2020.
Incubation Platform
The Sunrise Diagnostic Centre is only part of the China Biotechnology Services precision testing business, which also includes the Asia Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory (AMDL), which uses FDA-approved lung and colorectal cancer kits to conduct complementary diagnostic tests for patients, the Standard Pathology Laboratory, which is a long-established and comprehensive third-party medical testing centre in Hong Kong, and V-Care, a one-stop shop with three service outlets. V-Care, a one-stop health management platform with three service outlets.

Citizen Science Training Programme
Our main service targets include research institutes, enterprises and institutions, medical institutions, community health organisations, etc. In line with the vision of “genetic technology for the benefit of mankind”, the Center is committed to developing innovative joint education, genomics training and biological science education programs.
